Management Structure:
DNAco’s team consisted of Des Nixon as the
Contract Manager with Chris Bato being the Onsite Supervisor and Geoff
Nixon managing the OH&S. This team worked in conjunction with
Crossway’s superintendent Russell Oettinger via weekly site meetings
and other standard procedures.
Site Specific Building Solutions:
The major issue relating to this site
was the ongoing management of the site from the point of view of the
number of visitors wanting to keep an eye on how the building was
going. Crossway has a weekly congregation of approx 3,500 people. This
was managed by high quality site fencing and actual points outside that
fencing where people could get answers to their questions without
interrupting the progress of the work.
During the planning process we found via soil tests that the last metre
of the excavation was going to be in mudstone. We organised an
appropriate machine from day 1 to cope with what was expected and
indeed found.
Contract Result:
The works were completed within the allotted time and
to the satisfaction of all concerned. DNAco are proud to have been part
of the ongoing work of this great community organisation.
DNAco was actually further involved in management of the fit-out of the
building at both levels on a cost plus basis with assistance of various
forms of voluntary labour.
