Our History

Our director, Des Nixon started work in the building industry on the South Coast of NSW, working on an offshoot of the Snowy Mountains Scheme in 1975.

He was transferred to Melbourne by Leighton Contractors in 1976 to supervise the Northern end of Museum Station.

In 1979 after completing similar roles for other companies he decided to establish a stand alone business with 2 partners. "The main focus of that business was commercial concrete construction".

In 1989 Des left the original company and moved into a mixture of Commercial and Domestic building activities.

The company in its current form has been operating since 1996.

Our work is mainly in the Commercial field, with hospital renovations, churches, x-ray clinics and retirement village upgrades being a constant source of work.

Our growth in the industry attests to the fact that quality, reliability and service back up are still qualities desired by clients today.

Important Building Blocks

An important client during the early years of DNAco Construction was Dr Hock Quay who was establishing a chain of xray clinics.

We renovated or built a number of these clinics for him.

Dr Quay's clinics were acquired by the Mayne Health Group. As they developed and progressed with existing and new networks we continued to be involved in the role of construction and upgrading.

As our relationship developed Mayne Health invited us to be involved in renovating a number of their hospitals and medical clinics.

• The Northern Private Hospital (Epping)
• Masada Private Hospital (East St Kilda)

From our involvement with the Mayne Health Group, many of the major suppliers of x-ray equipment have requested our services in assisting them with the setup and installation of their products throughout Melbourne.
